Having grown up in an Israeli-Argentinian home, Nir has been influenced by rhythms and harmonies from across the world and has incorporated them into his art. Working as a Jazz pianist and singer/song-writer for the last 10 years, Nir has been able to experience the music scene from playing at venues such as Carnegie Hall, to working in music production at Saturday Night Live!.
Nir received his music education at the Lagond Music School and at Hunter College under artists such as Rusty Cloud, Bill O'Connell, Harvie S., Charlie Lagond, Ryan Keberle, Doug Monroe and other music innovators. Throughout, Nir has been lucky to play with Jazz greats such as Omar Hakim, David Murray, Gary Smulyan, Greg Gisbert, Carl Allen, Joel Frahm, Miguel Xenon, Grammy nominee Roseanna Vitro, Emmy winner D.D. Jackson, and Grammy winner John Benitez. Nir graduated salutatorian from the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Hunter with a B.A in Music and Political Science and is now working on the set of DailyMailTV in NYC.
Working at Saturday Night Live!, Nir provided support for Lenny Pickett and the SNL Band. There, he had the opportunity to assist great artists such as Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Sia, Paul Simon, Rhianna and the Zac Brown Band.
Nir has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Chelsea Piers, The Bitterend, Kenny's Castaways, the Knitting Factory, the Make-A-Wish Annual Gala, Playland main-stage, St. Peter’s Church, the CUNY Jazz Festival, Westchester Broadway Theater, the Westchester Jazz Concert Series and many more.
Nir has experience both as a session musician in studio and as a band leader for both public events and private venues. He has released an EP, which can be heard here. Nir has written theme songs for several Chepookah Production Web Series and has composed originals for the documentary film Retracing Jeneba: The Story of a Witness. As a Lagond graduate, Nir has enjoyed giving back to young musicians by teaching and leading workshops and classes as well as band leading at the Lagond Music School Conservatory.
Nir continues to seek new ways to grow as a musician and explore new avenues in the music production, composition, and performing scenes.
